It will keep the new drivers up-to-date, which includes some game performance boosts, plus let you scan for games and apply calculated settings based upon your current hardware.įor your monitor, I suggest at least 1920x1024 (1080p) LED (note LED is much brighter than LCD with a backlight and has sharper black on white - may depend on your eye sensivity to what's better to purchase, if you play in the dark for long periods) with a low response time 60Hz. You can use this for Nvidia GTX graphic cards, which can help out greatly as a starting point to tweaking your games to boost quality vs performance ratio, getting optimal game settings at a click of a button. Make sure you uninstall your old graphic drivers. If you wish to go higher resolution or duel/tri monitors setup, then Nvidia GTX 7xx series. If your on a tight budget, then the GTX 750Ti (slightly lower performance than the GTX 660, but at much less power usage and cost).
GTX 660Ti or 670 would be medium/high settings. GTX 660 would be entry level for quality gaming, medium settings. Ti has increased textures and add a slight boost too.įor optimal resolution of 1920x1024 (1080p), single monitor, the Nvidia GTX 6xx series is quite good.
:P I always recommend people avoid cheap PSUs they're cheap for a reason.įor any Nvidia GTX graphic card, the first number refers to the technology series, followed by two other numbers referring to it's overall performance (圆0 or higher is good for gaming, 50 or below is more for applications and movies). I don't think it's worth upgrading anything other than your GPU and definitely your PSU, unless your cash is burning a hole in your pocket. Your CPU is awesome, if I understand that model number correctly. Only thing I could upgrade, is my CPU, but I'm still playing all the modern games, so I don't feel the pull, just yet. It's a good job I didn't realise I had extra PCI-E power pins, else I'd have blown £300 on a GPU and gone for something hugely overkill. I recommend the ASUS 760 OC, purely because I have it, and it rocks.

I have 1080p and it's nice, very nice in-fact, but certainly not the be all and end all that some people make it out to be, at least in my opinonion. Try not to get thrusted into high resolutions just because everyone says it's da bomb. An upgrade would be nice, if you care for that stuff, just remember that it will likely considerably drop your performance in some games. I don't think you "need" to upgrade your monitor at all it's entirely optional. Is this viable or even worth considering with my system? Sorry to sound very ignorant. I'm guessing I need a 1920x1080 screen? I think I've found something for £150 but recommendations would be very helpful.Īs for graphics card I'd like some change from £200 if possible.Īlso, I'm very unclear about the concept of "overclocking".
